We heard there was going to be a Fireworks display on the Grand Plage in Biarritz. So we thought a sunset apero on the cliffs then a easy stroll down to the beach for the show! Turned out a bit different! First we arrived to a frantic scene of 3 people being rescued and 1 person as I scribe, still missing! It was hard to have a beer, watching a beautiful sunset while people were drowning in front of your very eyes! We made the best of it and knocked of a jug of Sangria and 3 or 4 pints. Then the easy stroll turned into a game of rugby with the 500mt walk sheared with maybe 50000 other people with the same idea! Shoulder barging, sidestepping, dodging the cars and scooters! Only in France again! The Fire show was spectacular! There were star shapes and hearts and the finaly after 23 minutes of deafening booms and blinding flashes was a kaliderscope of colours. Very impressive, Then we were walking back to the car, bruising our way through and we heard music reverberating from under the bright white lighthouse. Turns out it was a ‘association’ of Basque people allowed to put up stalls and sell beer and sangria and food of all kinds! A dj was thumping out the Village People, ABBA, Rolling Stones and then busting out some Alicia Keys and Tiesto… Ripping and the 2000 plus people were dancing on the tables and going MAD! So Random yet so soo good! You have to love Europe in the summertime!
